Bowen Therapy is a relaxing and restorative therapy that can help with many conditions.

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, holistic, non-invasive and effective technique in which rolling-type moves are made over soft tissue - tendon, ligaments, nerves, muscles and fascia. These moves stimulate the body to re-tension and re-align to the best of its ability in its own way and time.

Bowen Therapy stimulates the body’s own healing response. It helps restore homeostasis and balance to the body, enabling it to address pain and restore function to the systems in the body and the sense of well-being.

The approximately hour-long treatment is the beginning of a process and your body may continue to respond for about a week. Each body is different and will respond in its own way and own time.

Being gentle, Bowen Therapy is suitable and effective for all ages, from babies to the elderly and including pregnancy.

The Bowen moves are gentle but purposeful and can be done though light clothing.

After their first experience of treatment people often wonder how such gentle movements can have such a profound effect on posture, pain relief, and their general sense of well-being.

Bowen Therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions:

  • Muscle and joint pains – back and sciatic, shoulder, knee, foot, hip, neck

  • Digestive and bowel issues

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Asthma

  • RSI, carpal tunnel and tennis elbow

  • Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue

  • Earache and jaw problems

  • Sports and other traumatic injuries

Bowen Therapy was developed by Tom Bowen (1916 – 1982) in Geelong, Australia, during the 1950’s.

Welcome to my Bowen Therapy Clinic where I combine compassion and openness with knowledge and professionalism to support you.

I care how you are and how I can help you achieve your potential.

I listen to what you tell me, assess to find the restrictions and then do gentle Bowen moves where needed.

When needed I have a very gentle touch, making treatment suitable for elderly, babies and those with chronic pain.

How it all began…

I have always been interested in wellness, from being a biologist, to a teacher, then a traveller visiting other cultures, until returning to Geraldton and beginning my path in Bowen Therapy.

A rough ride in a bemo in Indonesia was the start of a series of back pain episodes over 25 years, with each episode becoming more painful and lasting longer. A chance encounter on a ferry with an elderly village woman in northern Borneo resulted in her doing a form a gentle body work on me which significantly eased my pain.

I also began practising CFQ qigong. These showed me that there are natural non-invasive ways to reduce/resolve pain.

Bowen Therapy is one of these ways and when the opportunity came to become a Bowen Therapist I grabbed it and have been involved ever since.

Our bodies are designed to heal, sometimes they just need a little help.

I believe that the simple things that we do every day are important, things like sleep, nutrition (including drinking water), movement, relaxation and social connections.

How we love and care for ourselves affects our wellness.

I look forward to helping you on your wellness journey.

Annette is a wonderful Bowen therapist. She listens and is very thoughtful in her approach. I have had remarkable results. I highly recommend her.
